FarPoint was fun!
Feb. 16th, 2004 11:49 pmWell, I had fun as did Peter, Ariel, Danicah, and Caroline.
We had fun with the Mumy family. I really liked meeting Eileen (Bill's wife) since we had talked on the phone a number of time but hadn't met face to face. Ariel and Danicah formed their own little posse with Lilliana, Seth, Robbie, and Tom which gave them a group of kids to run around with at the convention.
Caroline stole the show at times with her infinite cuteness. I am going to post some pictures on my website later.
We won at the Costume Call both 1st place fantasy and Most Humorous. Ariel did a fantastic job of selling the joke. She was "Shlepper the Leper," who (the announcer informed us) wandered Medieval Europe, alone and friendless and untouchable...only finding joy when she danced to the ancient leper anthem." At which point MC Hammer's "U Can't Touch This" came on and she bounded around the stage, even peeling off several pieces of "skin" and tossing an eyeball into the audience. Which I heard both laughter and "Eeewww" and "Yuck!" I love it when I can gross the audience out. I am very proud of the makeup job. I got a couple of pots of makeup at Party City along with some Woogie appliance and fake blood. I forgot my sponges and brushes so I had to do the whole job by fingers mixing the makeup on the back of my hand. It looked really good. The costume I did in about 2 hours since leper gear doesn't take much to do (think sack cloth and ashes).
Did get stuff into the art show. Didn't sell anything, but there will be other Cons this year. I think I'll try LunaCon next......
