Long day yesterday. I went to rehearsal for Most Happy. It felt like slipping back into a comfortable suit of clothing you forgot you had. The cast is great and the show is very interesting more so to see it move around than stagnant on the page. I had a lot of fun. We have three weeks before we open. The actors are further long than they thought they were and I told them so. Next rehearsal for me is Tuesday.

Peter called me while I was at rehearsal to tell me that Neil Gaiman was doing a reading at CBGB as a benefit to save the venue. The last time I had been to CBGB was back in 1989 or so. I went to see an actor I was working with play there. I went down and through the magic of conversation I got in along with a picture of Neil and his little Neil puppet. I did see Neil who was already looking tired. He is doing a book tour and promoting MirrorMask that opens at the end of the month. I got my promised hug and about a minute to exchange pleasantries. I loved the woman who was running the shindig when a bunch of flashes when off while Neil was just standing taking a short breather before going on stage. "If I see one more flash from any of you I'm going to shove that digital camera or phone down your throat!" I believed she would do it too, So Neil got ready to go on and I faded to the back to the CBGB gallery since it had comfortable couches and I knew I could hear Neil from there.

One of the other headliners speaking that night was the brilliant Kyle Baker author of such works at Why I hate Saturn, The Cowboy Wally Show, and the powerful Nat Turner. I met Kyle and his lovely wife Liz at a Mexican Comic Book show back when Peter and I first started dating. We run into each other every couple of years and catch up on news about our families and the industry. I ran into him on my way to the comfy couches and we talked for a good 45 minutes about all kinds of topics. As always the conversation was entertaining and engaging. He has become a self-publisher for his work. I encourage all of you to go take a look at his website Kyle Baker and buy stuff from him.

Due to trains and subway, I didn't get home until 2:00AM. Peter worked the night through and dealt with getting Ariel off to school and Caroline up and ready to deal with the world. I finally pulled myself back to the land of the living about 8:45 and got some coffee into my system. Today I am gone to start work on a couple of props for the show that I can do and finish cleaning the living room which I got a lot done on Saturday.

I am grateful for opportunities to reconnect with old friends.
