Crafty Tuesday: I also make Costumes

puppetmakerThe first one I wore at a convention was Blake from Blake 7.
From that I did this and that over the years. Until I met up with my buddies Jeff and Angelo and we decided to do Vincent from Beauty and the Beast (the 1980s version). There is photographic evidence of this project somewhere on one of my backup drives.
About the same time I started doing costumes for theater. Since I was doing costuming professionally, I didn’t do any at conventions.
Until I started dating Peter and found myself making costumes for Ariel and then for Peter and then for Caroline and eventually me.
Behind the cut in pretty much chronological order are photos of previous costumes I have done.
I am grateful for all I have learned over the years making all these costumes.
Magic Dance
(For the VI: these are characters from the movie Labyrinth.From left to right, Beth as goblin #1, Danicah as Sarah, Caroline as Toby, Me as Jareth, Ariel as Goblin #2. Goblin #1 has a silver helmet. All you can see of the face is a nose surrounded by chain mail, they have a red tunic over a white shirt with brown armor over it all. Sarah is wearing a green dress with a flower headpiece. Toby is in White and Red jamies, Jareth is wearing a bronze cloak with a blue lining, Goblin #2 is wearing a gold helmet with a white shirt with a brown tunic and armor over that.)

(For the VI: This is Ariel dressed up as the Grinch from How the Grinch stole Christmas. Her skin is green and she is wearing a Santa Claus tunic and hat.)
What Monsters are Afraid of?
(For the VI: From left to right. I am dressed up as the Mugato from original Star Trek. It is a white ape with a horn on its head. Caroline is dressed as Boo from Monsters Inc. She has a pink T-shirt, purple pants and she is holding a one eyed three legged monster doll)

From left to right Ariel as Gibbs from Pirates of the Caribbean, Danicah as Captain Jack Sparrow, Kate Greenberger as Willie Wonka, ? as Ed Wood, ‘Rina Olsen as Edward Scissorhands (costume by Susan Olsen and ‘Rina. Hands by me), Robbie Greenberger as JM Barrie.
(for the VI: These are all replicas of costumes worn by Johnny Depp with the exception of Ariel. Ariel wearing no shoes, cream colored pants, grey vest, a brown belt, and grey mutton chops. Danicah is wearing a replica of the Jack Sparrow outfit with a grey coat, white shirt, brown tri-corner hat, and black wig, Kate is wearing a red coat with a black top hat and holding a multi-color stick. ? is wearing men’s garters to hold up the black socks, a black skirt and a pink sweater. She is wearing a blond wig and has a black mustache. ‘Rina has the hands made out of scissors, a cut up white shirt, black suspenders, and grey pants. Robbie is wearing a grey suit, a feathered headdress. He is holding a duck.)
