In regards to the Tragedy in Colorado, I have one request

I woke up this morning to the news of the shooting at the Movie Theater in Aurora Colorado. There are 12 people dead and over 50 injured by the actions of one idiot.

I am praying for everyone affected by this tragedy. It is senseless even if we find out why.

Here is my request. Let us learn the names of the victims and forget the name of the shooter.

Too many times we remember the perpetrator rather than the victims and I think that needs to change.

I am grateful that they caught the shooter alive.

I think you're absolutely right. It's the very least that needs to change, but it's the one thing that we can all do, in this moment.

So so true. A certain event in Norway that happened a day short of a year ago also brings this to mind. The perpetrator got rewarded for his cold blooded and calculating actions by much more than 15 minutes of fame and weeks in court while the victims really even got a mention until the trial

Heard over here that so many people at the movie at first thought the gun shots were part of the movie as it all happened during a shooting scene. Death imitates art

Is there no end to the madness?

I've heard that they caught the shooter alive because he sat in his car and waited for the police to arrive. And when they got a search warrent for his house for additional weapons and possible explosives, his own mother alledgedly said, "You've got the right guy!"

I do totally agree with you about this.

There were for instance four serviceman in the theater and so many other people. Who were they? How can we help them now? Yes, we can pray and show sympathy but we can feel a closer connection to them by knowing their names.

That is a good request. A friend of mine actually works in the trauma center of the city so I called her this morning to see if she had off or was on shift. Amazingly it was the one night that week she wasn't in, but she was going in at 5 that morning to help with those still in critical condition. Its all so senseless.

This is the wisest thing I have seen written about this tragedy. Thank you.
