Black Friday 2009

Yesterday was a good day. Peter made a lovely chocolate cake on Wednesday for our dessert and then took point on the turkey. My job was knocking the Dining Room into shape and the side dishes which were mashed potatoes, yams, stuffing, gravy, and green beans. We sat down about 5, said grace, and then ate until we were full. We retired to the living room and played a game of Disney Scene-It to let dinner settle. After the game we had dessert which was very yummy.

And that was our day. Today we are going to see Fantastic Mr. Fox and then Ariel and I are going to Joann’s Fabrics to look at some stuff. We have an idea for the Farpoint Costume Contest and I want to see if it would be feasible.

Tomorrow will be another quiet day. It will also be one week to Caroline’s Birthday Party. I still have cleaning and shopping to do for that.

I am grateful for the nice dinner we had yesterday.

Wow, what a perfect holiday. I hope someday to have events like that in my home. We don;t have actual Thanksgiving in my home, so I have no idea what people actually do for it? I've never heard of saying grace before, may I ask what is that? Is that like praying before the meal? (Sheltered kid here, hehe) or is that saying what you're thankful?

Apologies if the question was too personal, feel free not to answer it!

"Saying grace" is praying before a meal, yes. On Thanksgiving, it's specifically giving thanks for one's blessings.

Thank you! I feel so ignorant, sorry!

It's a prayer before the meal. There are many versions of the prayer depending on one's form of religion or even form of Christianity.

Later we did go around and say what we are thankful for.

No problem with asking questions. I am more than happy to reply. We were just out for most of the day today.

We're not ready for Ethan's party-- which we've pushed back a week so he can attend his cousin's party next weekend.

November and December are complicated!
