G'Day from Australia

We made it! It was a 26 hour saga but we made it!

We are here in Melbourne, Australia.

Caroline was quite the trooper. She slept the same amount as she would have had at home and amused herself during the time she was awake.

So now we are going to go to the aquarium which is local and get some lunch along the way.

More when I am feeling more awake.

I am grateful that we made it here in one piece AND all the luggage made it too.

Enjoy! The Melbourne tram system is an excellent way of getting around town. Melbourne also has a tasty Chinatown (note: "dim sum" is "yum cha" in Oz). And finally, be sure to explore the nooks and alleyways while shopping in the downtown area, which contain a number of interesting small shops and cafes.

For bonus points, near the aquarium is Batman Park. Seriously. Melbourne was founded by John Batman. And nearby in the shopping area attached to the Crown Casino, at least as of three years ago, is what claims to be a Warner Bros. Studio Store, which of course are defunct in the US...and this one also sold some very non-Warner product (Simpsons and Marvel stuff), but you might find something of interest there.

Um ... you are aware that Worldcon is next year, right?

Don't be too disappointed when you go to the convention center and we're not there!

oh my that's so exciting, I didn't know you were going to australia! I always wanted to go, is it just a vacation or is there business involved in the trip?

Thanks for letting us know that you got in safely. I always pray for safe passage when friends and family travel. I hope that you all have a great time. It will be a few years before the kids graduate and Bryan and I get our boat, but once we've built up enough confidence and experience, we plan to sail the Coconut Milk Run, stopping in Oz for a few months to wait out hurricane season, then continuing up to Japan. Until then, I must live vicariously through others, LOL

Glad to hear all of you (including luggage) made it intact to Oz. Have a fabulous time. I know you'll bring us plenty of reports.

I'm glad you made it uneventfully, and your luggage did, too. Have a great time on the other side of the world.
