DragonCon 2008 The Aftermath

Happy Birthday to Ariel who is now 17. It was yesterday but we are traveling so I didn't get to write that here. She got sushi for dinner and a lovely cake from the best bakery in the area. She also received some items from DragonCon that she really wanted.

We are home. Took a little long than we would have liked but we are safe and the cats are happy to see us. Really happy to see us. I am being snuggled to death by cats. Which is strange because I know they got lots of scritches and attention. I guess they are just happy to see me again.

Our Internet is not talking to our wireless router and I am at my wits end as to how to get the two to talk to each other. There was a power out that wiped the DSL box and we had to reset the password. Now the Wireless doesn't have the same password so it won't talk to the DSL box. I have been trying to get my router to talk to my computer so I can get it to play nice with the DSL. Can't seem to get it done. I am on a Mac trying to get it to talk to my Netgear.

The drive back would have been shorter IF there the road hadn't been closed due to a 5 car crash that closed the interstate we were on. My sympathies to the family of the young man who was killed in the collision. So we had to detour which added a couple of hours onto the trip. Kudos to Ariel and Caroline for being champions of the ling drive. Not a complaint from either of them the whole time.

We have unpacked the car. Today I plan to start the laundry. My mother made my life so much easier by doing all of Caroline's so she has all her good clothes for the first day of school. Now I have to make sure that Ariel has the clothes she wants to wear for the first day of her Senior year.

I have lots of thoughts about these past two weeks which I will be writing about most of this week I think. In between I will be recovering the house from all the travel we have done.

I am grateful to have at least gotten the Internet connection working on one computer.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Ariel.

Have you actually gone to the admin console on the router?

Most routers have a fixed address of 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.0.

Sorry if you've already tried this.

I can't even get that far. *sigh*

If you put the IP address in your browser what happens?

Spinning Black and White wheel of death.

I have it hooked up to the Internet portion of the router figuring that I am inputing info rather than removing.

Oh and I reset the ethernet according to the directions in the book on the router but something is not working there either

Nope.

Hook the internet into the router and the network cable from the router to the computer.

So in goes into the router and out goes into the computer.

Then type the IP address into your browser and change the settings.

No matter what the wiring ALWAYS remains consistent.

The network cable and network protocols allow data to transfer both ways.
