Wonderful Wednesday

Ah hump day for most people. The work week is half done and tipping towards the weekend. This will be another quiet weekend for us. The rest of March is rather busy. Hard to believe that Friday is the last day of the month and this is even an extra day.

Peter went off to the city to see Young Frankenstein and get an autograph from Mel Brooks himself. He had fun and will probably talk about it in his blog.

So Caroline and I went to the Dinosaur Museum out in Riverhead only to find out that it no longer exists which really bummed out Caroline. We made the best of it and went to the Aquarium just down the street. She had a great time. There were not many people so she got to do what she wanted to do. There is a new part that allowed her to pretend to excavate a strange skeleton which is one of the things she REALLY wanted to do at the dinosaur museum. We had a blast on our mother/daughter day.

We came back and the house was cool but I didn't think anything about it. As the evening went on, it kept getting colder and colder. I checked the furnace and hit the reset button. Nada. So I have called the service and with any luck they will be here soon. I know we have oil because they made a delivery less than two weeks ago. I am hoping this will be resolved soon because it is getting very cold in here.

Caroline is bundled up in the master bedroom watching George of the Jungle, Tom Slick, and Super Chicken. Her favorite of the three is mine too. She is a Super Chicken fan. She likes the others but she loved Super Chicken and Fred. I'm so proud. I have put her in her warmest jammies and a couple of fleece blankets. I checked on her recently and she is warm enough.

I am grateful that we have lots of quilts and comforters because I think we are going to need them tonight.

It makes me think of the terrible ice storm we had years and years ago. I was a single parent at that point with two preschool kids. We were without power in a small duplex for three days, the temperature never above 20 degrees.

It's a great excuse for cuddling.

Sending warm thoughts your way.

Thanks. I appreciate that. I think because of ice storms my parents made sure to have gas heat rather than electric in their house.

It's cold in here too. I know we also have oil, but being in an ancient house the wind tends to blow through.

It got bad enough I plugged in the electric heater..

*hug* Stay warm.

I have two of those for the two coldest rooms when needed. Unfortunately I can't use those unless I am awake.

But we have heat now. I think.

I don't leave them on when we are sleeping either. Unless I bring it into our room or put Zach in the living room with one.

Glad to hear it's warming up.

Thanks. It is a good thing we have so many throw blankets and quilts. Caroline is using hers tonight that you made her.

Good Luck on the heat thing.

As a new home owner, that's one of my big fears.

Did you mention having a small child? That motivates them nicely, I've learned... our heater has a habit of blowing up old parts on very chilly nights. I hope they get out there soonest and get your heat back on!!! Stay warm!

They came in pretty good time. The dispatcher gave me updates as to where we were in the shooting match every half hour. The advantage of small town America, we know the family that owns the oil company that we use for our furnace.
