It,snot a lot of s,no

It is snowing right now. It is pretty and falling with big fluffy flakes. It is also not going to be around long as the temperature climbs and this turns to ice and then to rain. But outside is a pleasant picture to look at as I type this.

The decorations are half up (more like 3/4) but the wind chased us inside the rest of the day. I will complete it after the rains stop.

It is going to be a good day to get stuff done indoors. When I read the weather report last night before going to bed, I figured I had the morning to run some errands (we really DO need milk and bread) but apparently not.

I have an idea for a costume that is starting to percolate in my head. It might be just a walk around or it might be something for Costume Con because if I go, I want to compete even if I get my rump handed to me by everyone else. I think I am a good costumer.

I am grateful for being able to share this snow with my daughter.

FWIW, I think you're a good costumer too. Always have. And from the pictures you've posted of stuff you've done in the last few years, still are.

Thanks. I appreciate the compliment.

We had about a quarter inch on the ground when I got up this morning. Pretty. Did you notice that we may get more Wednesday evening?

And color me not shocked at all. This kid was born during a snow storm and it has snowed on her birthday for the past 5 years.
Might put a bit of a spanner in our plans for Wednesday but Peter and I came up with a fun alternative.

Except last year. Last year we didn't get any snow until mid-January, setting a new record for latest first snowfall.

We had about 5 minutes of flurries on the 5th last year which had me and Peter laughing really hard.

It's gorgeous in Western New York. Our backyard looks magical, even with the large mouse/ small rat I saw looking for sunflower seeds. (It actually looked cute, foraging next to a squirrel and a bunch of chickadees.) It looks to be around 3 inches at the moment, and the little pond in back has frozen over. Yesterday the temperature dropped to 17*F but today is supposed to be close to 30*. I'll be putting up some outside decorations today: glowing candy canes along the driveway, a 6ft Mickey Mouse Santa, window clings, and some lights for the hedge in front of the house. I'll post the before and after pics up on my journal.

I'm no Clark Griswald; however, I love being able to decorate for the holidays. It's been three years since I've seen snow.

That's sound really neat. I just need to finish the lights on the railings and the front bushes and I'll be happy.

My biggest problem is that I have a light out on a string and I can't figure out which one it is. I may have to work on it indoors today to see if I can get it working again.

Heh...all we're getting here in DE is ice pellets...

Ours is now that lovely mix of ice/snow/rain like the weather can't make up its mind and is just trying everything.
