Boy Wizard and Friends Puppets

Here are the Boy Wizard, the Boy Wizard's best friend and behind them the Headmaster and the Potions Teacher for your amusement.

I had fun making them and they did sell at DragonCon sort of as a set since the same person bought all four of them.

Hey Mel!

Yes I was tired that night but not that tired.

Wasn't the Yule Ball a trip and a half?

[identity profile] puppetmaker40.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh and Yes I think I am going to be making a few more. The hardest thing is going to be to find the small patch for the robes. I think if I go for the "tie" size it will work for the puppets.

I really adore them!

Yes, the ball was a blast! The folks were friendly, the music rocking, and the YALit staff was on the ball. ;)

BTW, Do you go to AWA?

Adorable! I'm amused by Snape's stringy hair. :-) Is that a wing sticking into the right edge of the picture?

[identity profile] puppetmaker40.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep. That was one of the elemental pixies that I plan to write about tomorrow.

Oh wow, those are awesome!

[identity profile] puppetmaker40.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you. That idea had been kicking around in my head for a while but now it saw the light of day and this BEFORE I ever saw Potter Puppets

[identity profile] jendaby.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Those. Are. Awesome! :)

[identity profile] puppetmaker40.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you. I think Snape was my favorite of the bunch.

[identity profile] gnomi.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
The puppets are magnificent!

[identity profile] puppetmaker40.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you. It was fun to figure out what was the bare minimum needed to convey what the puppets were.

[identity profile] lupagreenwolf.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Those are incredible :)

[identity profile] puppetmaker40.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you. Now that I have done one set of these sorts of puppets I am thinking what I can do next with them. The fannish possibilities are endless.

Tomorrow I am going to talk about the dolls including at set of elemental pixies I did and I really will be interested in what you think of them.

Hmmm, just out of weird curiosity, where on the copyright spectrum does this fall? Because depending on how much (or how little) attention Scholastic would give to this, you could branch out quite a bit.

And looking forward to tomorrow's batch :)

Those are terrific!

These were the germ of an idea that I told you that I wanted to do for LunaCon this past year and never got around to. I finally got around to it.

By the by, a number of people that you know told me to say Hi and they hoped you were doing well. I didn't keep a list but it was most of the Usual Suspects. I also ran into Sean Carter (dressed up as Snape). He will be of retirement age from teaching in 5 years with his full pension. I can't think of any of us retiring yet.

Sean Carter is almost old enough to retire!?! But he's younger than we are! Aaaaugh!

[identity profile] puppetmaker40.livejournal.com 2007-09-07 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
I think it has more to do with total number of years teaching rather than his age. But still not the words you would expect to hear one of our gang to say.

Aww, Kath. Those are awesome!!! I would totally be interested if you're making more. I never made it down to the Art Show.

Thankyouverymuch for bringing Matt to the ball. You are the best!!!

Not a problem at all. He was a big sweetie wasn't he?

I'm game for whatever you need me to do next year.

The extraordinarily proud owners were escaping with them when I went through the Art Show on Sunday, so I got to see them "in person". Absolutely fun! Thanks for posting pictures, and well, for showing us such a good time this weekend!

:-)

Yeah we always have the most interesting people show up on our doorstep don't we? *grin*
