I am new to the ideas of Dr. Who -- I've only really liked the past 3 or so seasons (harder for me to understand the ones from the 70s, though now that I see these I may have to go back and rewatch them).
I thought that the Daleks were a much older concept than just the past 3 seasons? Wow, if so I can see that long time fans would get rather annoyed.
This was an OK episode, not one that had me rivited (I must say that I am getting annoyed with the female-companions-who-fall-in-love-with-Dr.- Who-who-rejects-them,-but-then-longs-for-them- after-they-are-gone bit).
However, this didn't make much sense to me, either, as 1) why pig men? Pigs are intelligent creatures! If they wanted dumb, why not the sloth? Is this a nod to Circe? 2) If they (Daleks) are striving for purity (which I thought they were) didn't this just totally set them back? Humanity is far from pure. 3) Would someone in the time period really work for aliens? Would he think they were demons? That was a little odd.

But, I will be watching next Friday, I'm sure. :)
