RTBTCKI (The "I got my Short Story DONE!" edition)

Yep. Got that Doctor Who short story done and off to the editor. I had Peter read it and give it a quick edit. Still thinking about a title. If things go according to plan, I believe it will be out next year. I am quite proud of it. It's the Second Doctor, Jamie, and Victoria and a chance encounter with William Wallace.

When I am traveling around in the car today, I plan to have WFAN on. You know that the calls from both the Mets fans and the Yankee fans are going to be priceless. Considering what was being said yesterday on the radio by both groups, it is going to be interesting to see what they come up with today. The game today is at 1:00 today and should be fun. It's Glavine vs. Clippard. I'm expecting another pitchers' duel. I do agree with the announcer that said if the Mets were going to win any of the three, the most important one would be winning against Clemens which they did. Anything else this weekend is gravy.

Today starts costuming for Shoreleave (Hi Susan. We still don't know about that grade thingy but I am going assume that we are going so the costume is a go if you want to do it!) I have some of the material I need but today is the hunt for some more of it. I do need to check my supplies because I think I have more of the fabrics I need than I think I have (Yeah I know that's a badly constructed sentence but then we have the coffee factor).

Once back from Shoreleave, I plan to get some Fairy Grandmothers started. I have that and a couple of other ideas including one really wacky Star Wars idea I might execute.

Speaking of Star Wars, I got a shirt from outside Star Tours with Yoda on it a while back which said, "Pull my finger" with the Yoda from the animated series on it. Well I happen to get the same t-shirt a couple of years later except this time it says, "My Finger, pull". I remember when I got the first one that Peter looked at it and told me what was wrong with the shirt. Apparently someone at either Disney or Lucas had the same idea.

Caroline is doing well with her swimming lessons. We are to the point that the instructor is working on getting her to put her face in the water and hold her breath. She had got the kicking part down and is starting to work with her arms. She progresses a little further with each lesson which is what we had hoped she would do. The other thing she is learning is to be a good listener and follow her teacher's directions which she need to do before going to school.

Peter met Rosario Dawson at the convention he is attending. One of Ariel's favorite movies is "Rent" so she got a special thrill to talk Rosario yesterday. I didn't know that her uncle was Gustavo Vazquez, the comic book artist, until I looked her up in IMDB today to make sure I spelled her name correctly. She is a fan of Peter's work and had him sign some comic books for her.

"Darkness of the Light" is out. I saw it in the local Barnes and Nobel. It is one of the best things Peter has written to date.

Well off to take care of the girls and get the rest of my day started.

I am grateful for finishing that story and getting it to the editor.

Congrats on getting the short story done! No, I won't suggest a title, because I'd really be talking out my ass... *tries to remember if Dr. Who has more than one heart so that some sort of Braveheart pun could be made...* <-- See? Talking out my ass. I need to know more about Dr. Who...)

I'm one of Those Who Came In Late, so I was wondering: How many stories you've written have you published so far? I know that you've edited other people's stuff, and I saw you and PAD as translators for those Japanese comics, and a Star Trek-related computer game I saw on the shelves in 2001, but otherwise I'm clueless.

Peter met Rosario Dawson at the convention he is attending... I didn't know that her uncle was Gustavo Vazquez, the comic book artist, until I looked her up in IMDB today to make sure I spelled her name correctly.

Neat. I knew she was into comics but didn't know her family connection.

She is a fan of Peter's work and had him sign some comic books for her.

Hey, picture this: Ms. Dawson as J.J. Sachs? You think? May I? ;-)

Oh, and I saw Darkness of the Light at a Borders last weekend, too. It's out and about...

Yay! for completed manuscripts.

I get so impatient for the Short Trips books... they're the only series we carry that I keep up with on a regular basis.

Although I may start diving back into Bernice Summerfield.

Very cool update! Congrats on finishing the story. It soundslike you are keeping very busy! :) Swimming lessons, huh? That sounds like a good idea... :)
