Shoreleave 2006 Saturday Report (with a little Friday and Sunday thrown in)

Ok I am officially awake now. Saturday was rather busy with a 3 hour block of panels which was fun, a nap with Caroline, and of course the Costume Call. Peter, Caroline and I started the day right with a hardy breakfast with my sister-in-law and brother-in-law and their two little girls. I took some time to take care of a few other things I need to do including introducing Caroline to Gigi Edgely who played Chiana on Farscape which Caroline has watched and enjoyed. Gigi thought Caroline was very cute and Caroline was raising that cute factor that day. I fitted the costumes for the various individuals who were a part of Mystery Trekkie Theater and that all worked out. I had some good conversation with some of my friends and met a few new people as well. We went to watch the Masquerade with Caroline who made it through Ariel's costume and then wanted to get back to the room. All in all a pretty good day.

It was nice not having an entry to worry about all day. Instead I worried about the art show. The Fluzzies went over well just no one bought one or bid on one. The art show did OK but it was a new set-up in a new place that had people making an effort to get there. The Art Show staff DID make a great effort to get people into the Art Show and inform them where it was. The set up was very nice and flow of traffic could be controlled. All in all it was not a bad place to have an art show. I will have pictures of the critters up soon.

Robbie's sketch went over pretty well. He took "Springtime for Hitler" and changed it to "Springtime for Dark Lords named Volemort" with Ariel and Marina as his back-up singers and dancers. My only involvement with that was Ariel's costume. Over all the costume call was the usual mix of the good, the bad, and the ugly. I swear we need to institute a gong for acts that go on to long. It's really simple. Tell your joke (if you have one), present your costume to the judges and get the heck off the stage! Lip syncing to an entire song after we get the joke does not endear you to the crowd. The people running the Masquerade did a wonderful job for both the participants and the audience. The green room was great and the organization was top notch. You could get an answer to your questions in short order which is a really great thing. My only question is when are they going to add to tech 'Use Ninjas as a Prop? Yes or No' Gotta love those Ninjas.

This morning Peter and I went to an author breakfast which was really nice and I got to talk with a number of people. Caroline fell back to sleep already. She came in this morning asking for her nose medicine since she was all stuffy. Now I am going to post this and then make a run through the dealers room which I have not visited yet expect to talk to some old friends.

I am grateful that Saturday went well.

Sounds like fun, if a little confusing and hectic. I'm glad you're enjoying it!

Pleasure seeing Peter and you again (even if it was mostly in passing. :( ) Hope there'll be more time for visiting at Dragon*Con!
