Amazingly Another entry

I did a lot of fabric cutting yesterday. I got it down to a couple of puppet skins to go (2 to 5 depending). I did get the first part of the mouths and foam skulls done also. All in all not a bad days work. This was possible because Peter took Caroline out to the playground to play because it was such a nice day. She met up with her little friend Katie and the two of them romp around the play ground and played in the sandbox for quite a long time. Once lunch became an issue, they had to go their separate ways. Caroline then took a power nap since she expended so much energy in the morning.

So today is all about the sewing. I want to get all the outfits done for Shoreleave so I can use Tuesday to focus on finishing the puppets for the Art Show. These guys are a little more of an experiment so we'll see how they turn out. I hope well and cute enough that people want to buy them since I can put them at a slightly lower price point than my usual hand and rod puppets.

Phil Foglio has announced in his blog that Hayao Miyazaki passed away due to a stroke on July 1st. I can't find independent conformation on this but the Japanese tend to keep death a private matter and don't automatically announce it to the world. Considering his volume of work that has been seen in the US, I am hoping against hope that Phil just has some bad info but I don't think he would announce it unless he believed it to be true.

I am grateful for time to get stuff done in.

Is this the designer who got the Tony for K-2? My tech professor in college studied with him.

Well the good thing is that Miyazaki is just fine thank you and working on a new project. He is best known for "Spirited Away" in the US along with "Howl's Moving Castle"

K-2 designer was Ming Cho Lee who I had as my design teacher. He is and was a trip.

Yeah, my tech teacher loved him, said he was a hoot.

Tom Cascella. Late '70's?

There's a tear on Totoro's cheek, and the little bobble-headed forest ghosts have stopped rotating their heads. Very sad news.
