Lj Idol Season 7 Break Week New Year
It is hard to believe that another year has passed and we are rapidly coming up on the Shiny New Year.
Happy New Year is the cry in the streets at Midnight on January 1st. Hugs and kisses follow like a wave with the changing time zones until it hits the date line and becomes January 2nd. On my iPhone I still hang onto what time it is in Melbourne and Auckland because they are practically a day ahead of me.
We have another phrase in our house on New Year’s Day, “Happy Birthday” since it is my stepdaughter Gwen’s natal day. But I Digress
A lot is put onto the New Year. All our hopes and dreams that this year (fill in the blank) will happen. That this year I will finally (fill in the blank). This year is going to be different for me because….. For many it seems to be a big shiny reset button that allows you to clean the slate and have another go at it.
Some make resolutions to try and do better or different. Others make promises to themselves that they hope they can keep. The list can be long. And then there is the scheduling of how one is going to keep all these shiny new promises and resolutions and in the back of one’s brain, and what one is going to do when they don’t keep up with the New Year.
And eventually the New Year is not so new anymore. Things return to pretty much normal and we slowing get use to writing 2011 rather than 2010 on various missives. The calendar ticks from January to February and then onto to March. Suddenly we find ourselves in May and June wondering where Winter and Spring went. The Summer flies by and we are into Autumn and looking at the calendar at the upcoming holidays and thinking back over the year that just zipped by. Just as suddenly we find ourselves back to this point. Looking at the New Year on the horizon with all its promise and hope.
So Happy New Year. I hope 2011 will be better to you than 2010 was.
And remember if 2011 sucks, 2012 is just around the corner.
This was my entry to the Live Journal Idol contest this week which was an entry by choice rather than by lot. If you liked it, I hope you will cast a vote for me so I can continue to write
