Halloween 2009 Wrap-up

We managed to get everything done in time. It was a bit of a push but we got it done.

I started by finished putting out the decorations which had been interrupted by weather and the lack of light a couple of times along with all the other activities that I have been doing. I also carefully trimmed the bushes beside the steps so that no costumes would be snagged coming up the steps.

I sorted comic books to give away. I go through and take out any and all that might be questionable due to content. Then I sort by age and type. A couple of trends I noticed this year. There are a lot more comics aimed at younger kids which I think is a great thing. There are more comics with a female hero in the front seat. Team comics are up while individual comics (ie: one character driving the book) are fewer in number.

At 4:00 Caroline got into her costume and we went to her friend’s house where we met up with her friends and we went as a group which was much more fun for Caroline. We walked for about an hour gather up a lot of candy. Caroline was wearing low heels for the first time which she had worn at the dance with no problem but she caught a piece of sidewalk badly and slightly turned her ankle. We finished the circuit and decided to call it a night. I carried her home but she is fine this morning.

The costumes that the kids were wearing were quite a mix. This year there were a lot of little Supergirls running around. There were also a lot of creative costumes. There were two brothers dressed up as Bert and Ernie that were just wonderful. We also had the usual number of teens that didn’t put much into the costume but wanted the loot. There is a store bought Master Chief that looks really good but don’t work well after dark because the visor is mirrored so it is hard to see in after dusk.

I was recognized by a bunch of the kids as that puppeteer that did Field Day last year. I should have brought out Wolfie to give out comics.

We had fun yesterday. Today is all about the things that have slipped through the cracks over the past couple of days. Slowly we are getting back to our routine.
