My Weekend
Overall it was very good. I am glad we did all the things and driving we did.
The puppet class was Amazing! We are starting with the basics since the skill levels are all over the map. Fine by me, I can always use another person’s point of view on puppetry. We started with a hand puppet. That is a naked human hand with ping-pong eyeballs like Oobi. Then we worked on getting the puppet to look at someone or something and lip-syncing. It was a lot to cram into 3 hours. We all got a pair of eyeballs to bring home and continue to practice. We even have homework to do this week. John is a wonderful teacher and very funny. He, like any puppeteer, has a million stories to tell. I really like the mix of people we have in the class. I am looking forward to next week’s class.
Friday Peter and I were sorting out our weekend. The weather predictions looked pretty nice. So on a bit of a whim we decided he would pick me up in the city after class and we would go visit his parents for Mother’s Day. I packed us up to a point on Friday night and got up early Saturday to do a little more. Peter finished the packing, got the car ready, and loaded Caroline and our stuff into the car. Due to traffic he picked me up a bit later than originally planned but that’s New York for you.
The trip down was uneventful. It was nice to see his parents again. Caroline was a good girl and we had a very nice visit. About half way through dinner, I started falling asleep at the table. Peter took me back to the hotel and dropped me off. He and Caroline went back to his parents. I took some preventative measures to stave off pain in my arms and shoulders with a hot bath and some painkillers. This woke up me up a bit but I was asleep by the time that Caroline and Peter came back.
Peter settled Caroline down to sleep in his lap and then did some work on my computer. He came to bed at a reasonable hour for him. At 4 am Caroline started whimpering, which led to full body crying. I tried for about half an hour to get her to go back to sleep. Anytime I thought I had succeeded, a couple of minutes would pass and she would start up again. Peter got up, put her in his lap, and both of them fell back to sleep. At 6 am she got out of his lap and crawled into bed with me ready to start her busy day. I got up with her so Peter could sleep since he would be doing the lion share of the driving.
Caroline and I played with her toys. We went to get some breakfast and bring some back for Daddy. About 9 I was falling asleep in the chair I was sitting in which was fine since Peter was waking up at that point. We packed up and went to his parents for another visit. I took a short nap there so I was awake for the drive back. Caroline fell asleep 20 minutes into the trip and didn’t wake up until we were 5 minutes from the house. We picked Ariel up from her maternal grandparents and briefly saw Gwen and Shana. Peter and Ariel took me out to one of my favorite restaurants for dinner. I got some great presents from everyone. It was a very good Mother’s Day.
So how was your weekend?
I am grateful for my loving family.
