It's All How you look at it

Not much to say this morning. I have been listening to the Radio and NPR about the conditions in the countries that have been hit by the Tsunami. The words “the devastation” are repeated over and over again. Of some villages there is nothing left.

John Kovalic had a good cartoon about all this in his Jan. 3rd Cartoon. Matt and Ken are standing behind a wall ala Charlie Brown and Linus. Matt says “Well this was the worst Christmas ever. I didn’t get the Return of the King extended edition DVD. I didn’t get the new edition of Warhamster 40,000. I didn’t get Buffy season 7 and I didn’t get a cool new mini iPod. What didn’t you get?”
Ken replies, “Hit by a Tsunami losing my family, friends, home and possibly my life.”
Matt says while doing a face palm, “I could also use a rock to crawl under now. I didn’t get one of those either.” Really does put things into perspective.

Right now we have a wet drizzle that makes me want to curl up with a good book, a warn blanket and a hot chocolate but I have things to do and in the back of my mind I am thinking about all the people there who don’t even have a blanket. I grumble a bit while picking toys from the floor but then think of all the children who don’t have their favorite toys anymore. I can turn on a tap and get clean water. People are having to use contaminated wells because there is no other source of water to drink and no way to clean it. I can go to my fridge and get food. There have been numerous riots for what little food has made it into the effected areas. I am doing what little I can to help by donating to charity but these people need us to remember them six months from now.

I am grateful for my current crappy weather.
