Just Kickin' Down the Cobblestones
There are places in New England were cobblestones still exist. I can remember as a kid in Boston going to some historical area and found myself walking on cobblestones. There are places in New York City were the streets haven’t been repaved since the day of cobblestones. With the older building surrounding the street, you have a strange feeling of time traveling. I get that feeling sometimes. I can remember sitting on the benches in the dining hall of University College Oxford and it struck me that the table I was sitting at was older than the United Stated.
I did get my application into the DragonCon Art Show. I’ll probably hear in March whether I got in. Part of the problem is that I don’t have pictures of a bunch of my more fantastical puppets. I hadn’t figured out how bad that was until a friend reminded me of a puppet I made them that needed repair. I honestly don’t remember making the puppet until he told me about it. A number of puppets have been shipped off to their new owners without any recorded that I made them. I have no record of any of the 6 Midsummer Night’s Dream fairies I have done for various theater companies over the years. This is no one’s fault but my own. I just have to be more careful about it.
I have a week less than I thought for the Farpoint Costume. I apparently thought that the convention was the 3rd week not the 2nd so now I have to kick it into high gear to get everything done. The hardest part is going to be the knitting since I can knit but not quickly. So rather than being the relaxing activity knitting is suppose to be, it is a time sink that must get done. The head is going to be a bit of a challenge to so I might now want to put that to the end. Just to add to the fun, I managed to get a very large splinter in my right index finger from a telephone pole. I was trying not to slip on the ice again. So I have to dig that out and clean up the wound. I did get about 2 weeks worth of recycling out to the curb.
I am grateful that I can get splinters out of my fingers without fainting.
