Basic Human Decency

OK this one is going to behind the cut because this one is political and can be trigger for some.

It is rare that I talk politics. If you know me personally, you know where I stand politically on things. Same for Religion because these are not things that I talk about much.

I am the mother of a 15-year-old girl who is taking her last exam as a freshman today and walks out as a wise fool (Sophomore). There are mothers and fathers who right now have no idea where their 15-year-old son or daughter are or if they will ever see them again. And that is not OK in any language or place on this planet.

I like sports. I like some sports more than others but, in general, I like a good game or match. I enjoy listening to people talk about sports and the business of sports along with the endless debates that would put Hulk vs. Thing to shame.

There is a program on ESPN that I watch called Around the Horn. It bills itself as the show of competitive banter. There are four sports pundits that are given topics by the scorer and they gain and lose points based on their answers. It is a lot of fun and I have learned things about sports that I never knew.

The ringmaster and scorer of this show is a gentleman by the name of Tony Reali who has admitted to making up the rules as he goes but it is all in a sense of fun with the reward of 15 seconds for whatever you want to talk about at the end.

Yesterday Israel Gutierrez ceded his time to Tony who was back from a two week hiatus where other sports casters had filled his seat.

I figured that he had vacation coming which is not usual for this time of year with school ending and the like.

He told us of the birth of his son Enzo and the death of his son Amadeo in about the same breath. His wife gave birth early to twins. Amedeo didn’t make it but Enzo is home with them healthy and happy. He talked about grief and the duality of life and then he said this…

But I need to say this now. More duality, if I’m brutally honest. Today my thoughts are with children in cages. That’s parents experiencing loss too. Humanity needs to be better. Amadeo, I’ll love you forever. You’re named for God’s love. May we all be craving it. May we all be giving it to each other. May we all be compassionate enough to give it to all.

There are children in cages that have been ripped from the arms of their parents sleeping and crying for their mothers and fathers. No one knows if they will ever see their parents again. There is no structure set up to put these people back together. There is no system in place to take care of these children other than to foist them off onto systems that are already to the breaking point.

I saw on line the following and I agree with it whole-heartedly

When you see innocent children being put into tents sleeping on the floor after getting ripped from their parents and your response is “Didn’t they come here illegal?” Then we don’t have a difference in political opinion.

We have a difference in morality

And whole reason this is happening? Drumph is holding these children hostage to get his Goddamn wall. That is how low his moral code or lack of morals is, he will break up families to get this stupid wall that just shows how small his dick really is. We don’t need the wall. It is a vanity project like so many other Drumph brand vanity projects he has build over the years. That’s what he does and leaves a trail of destruction and un-paid workers in his wake.

And it is not the Democrats who had anything to do with this debacle but his own racist Justice Department and Jefferson Beauregard Sessions. The Drumph team is racist as fuck. They want the country to be white, Christian and proud and screw anyone who doesn’t fit into their ‘master race’. They are fucking Nazis in the worst sense of the word.

There has been already one report of a suicide in a detention center that we know about. How many are going unreported?

And the wringing of hands isn’t going to do it this time. We have to act. If you are in a red state call and harass your elected officials to correct this. Currently all the Democrats are on board and no Republicans which is very telling. I have called even though I am in a blue state. Make a donation to the ACLU and other groups that are trying desperately to get these kids back to their parents before it comes to the point that we cannot find who belongs with who. Make your voice heard because every voice makes the message louder and louder.

We must make this right. We pride ourselves of being the home of the free. We are a nation of immigrants who are turning our backs on the most vulnerable people in our country. This must not stand.

I am grateful that I know where my child is and my heart go out to all those who don’t.
