The Croup Part III
Caroline is feeling much better. With the exception of one coughing fit last night, she has been pretty much back to normal. Her little baby energy is more like her Caroline-self and she woke up very happy rather than coughing yesterday morning.
We slept really late for us since we didn’t set any alarms. So about 10:30, I woke up to a feeling of a scratchy throat and a stuffy nose. I was expecting it. I was hoping not to get it but it came none the less. So over the day I went from sniffy and a bit of a cough to totally miserable where it hurt to swallow or cough or think. This morning it just hurts to swallow and I am sniffy but the headache is (so far) not pounding.
It was a good day however. We met up with a friend who took us over to Magic Kingdom. Since he is a cast member of Disney, he could get updates on the park. He kept asking us if we were sure we wanted to go to Magic Kingdom. The park had shut down the parking lots and were only letting Resort guests and Premium Pass holders into the park if at all. Apparently after we got it they shut the park down to any new guests. It was wall to wall people. Seething masses of humanity that apparently didn’t understand how to walk forward when there was a large crowd trying to walk forward behind them.
We walking into the park while the parade was on and threaded our way to the back of the property. We arrived about noon and all the Fastpasses were for 6:45 or 7:45 or even 8:45 with the exception of the one thing I thought Peter and Ariel should see which was PhilHarMagic which had a fastpass of 3:45. Next to that venue was the Carousel which I had taking Caroline on last time we were down here. It was her favorite thing then and it turned out that it was the same now. She saw the Carousel and pointed at it saying Horse and Up/Down. She was real excited. Normally there is no line for the Carousel but this time it was a wait of one ride before we could get on. So the family loaded on to the horse and away we went. Caroline was happier than I had seen her in days.
We went to Disney’s Toontown to visit Mickey with Caroline. Ariel wanted to try the Barnstormer roller coaster which was one of the few she hadn’t tried. Her review was that it was about a 30 minute wait for a 3 minute ride. It had good visuals but she had ridden better on the fairs around home. We stood in line for Mickey. Caroline was clinging to me. Peter tried to take her to give my arms a rest but she wanted Mamamamamaa. Once we got into Mickey’s Garden she got down and wandered a bit but not far from our sides. She met Mickey. We took an incredibly ugly picture and went out to see Ariel walking toward us having just finished her ride.
We then picked our way back to Fantasyland. Peter and Ariel went to PhiHarMagic. Caroline and I went back to the Carousel for another 3 rides with waits. After the 3rd go around I took her off the horse and she put her head on my shoulder and gave a heavy sigh. I got some milk and put her down into her stroller for a nap but it took Peter and the lap of nappiness to put her into sleepy by. Ariel and I braved the crowds to go to Pirates of the Caribbean which had too long a line to even contemplate. We met up with Peter and a very gassy Caroline. A few gas drops later and she was her happy self.
Ariel babysat Caroline while we went to the Adventurers Club again since they were doing the Christmas Show under slightly strange circumstances. It was fun and we got to interact with the characters without chasing children under foot. Tonight Ariel is going to go with Peter so she can see the show. We are off to join some friends at Epcot which is so big that the crowds should seem smaller. Caroline is just waking up and we are off again on our adventure. We know we are visiting the living Seas because Caroline wants to visit Nemo and Friends.
I am grateful to friends with useful information.
