Crafty Tuesday Rose Tyler
About a year ago I met Billie Piper at the Philadelphia Wizard Convention. She loved the puppet I had made for David so I asked her if I was going to do a Rose Tyler puppet, which costume would she like? She said without hesitation the outfit from the Idiot’s Lantern, which was set in the 1950s.
Not the easiest outfit to recreate but do-able so I told her next time our paths crossed, I would have it for her. That next time is MegaCon this year so I set to it.

(For the VI: This is the actress Billie Piper as Rose Tyler. She is standing in the doorway of a blue police call box. Her hair is blond and she has a pink hairband in it. She is wearing a purple jacket with a white and pink flower on the left pocket and a pink dress with a sparkly bodice.)
The dress had a series of challenges to get it to fit right. I am figuring it didn’t have the straps but that is the best way to secure it on the puppet so I added those. The straps will be under the jacket and not seen.

(For the VI: this is the puppet in the pink dress with a sparkly bodice. The puppet’s eyes are brown and the hair is blond.)
The original jacket was a pattern nightmare of bits and bobs. I simplified it a bit to fit the puppet and not look too busy.

(for the VI: Billie Piper in the costume both front and side.)

(for the VI: The Puppet with a purple jacket on over the dress.)
Here is where I am this morning. I need to style the hair and add the earrings but she is pretty much done. I think I did a pretty good job.
(for the VI: the puppet with the flower on the purple jacket and a pink headband)
Oh and a stand, I need to make her stand.
I am grateful that this came together as it did.
