More Stuff

I am doing the Dance of Joy. In my e-mail this morning I find a note from Apple Repair that my machine has been repaired and is on its way back to me. Happy Happy Joy Joy. This means I might see it Friday before the weekend which would make me very happy. I think Peter could use his computer back too.

Caroline ate peas and potato last night. I have to agree that she may have been listening to what the Doctor said and comprehended more than we will ever know. My back is not at its best this morning. I can feel the twinge that is my warning sign to slow down and put down heavy objects.

This is probably Caroline’s last session at Mommy and Me for various reasons including a mother who is going to give her child reasons for much therapy later in life who is there with all her girlfriends. She had decided that Caroline is a mean kid and I am an irresponsible mom and had muttered so to her friends. Of course her kid poops gold and does no wrong. Caroline has a red ball at M&M that she became attached to after her first visit there. The little girl was playing with the ball when Caroline came in. Caroline tried to grab the ball but I stopped her so she stood and watched the ball intently. The mother suggested maybe I should try to get her another ball. I informed the mother of Caroline’s history with the red ball. The mother said well WE are playing with it now. Caroline continued not to move and watch the ball. The mother said well this is not worth it and dropped the ball which Caroline picked up. Caroline then ran to the teacher and showed her the ball. The teacher, who knows Caroline’s history with that ball, said Oh you have your ball. Later Caroline was sliding down the slide. The child who will need therapy sat down right in front of the slide. I caught Caroline going down the slide so she would not crash into this kid. The mother yanked her kid up and said we don’t play with them they are mean. This was three weeks ago. Two weeks ago we were walking on a beach and one week ago Caroline was sick with a cold. We go yesterday and most of the mother’s cronies keep their kids away from Caroline. These are the people that will be in the class she would have gone to in the fall since there are a limited number of toddler classes. There are other programs I can take her to and I don’t want my child learning this sort of behavior at her age. The previous classes were great and she got along great with the kids in all of them. So one bad apple has spoiled the barrel for me.

Today I need to make a grocery store run for the weekend. One thing I do like about a flexible work schedule is that I can shop when the store is practically empty and restocked. I tend to shop for food twice a week so we have fresh fruits and vegetables in the house. Milk is costing quite a bit these days. The Long Island produce is in the stores now and at the farm stands which makes for yummy salads and veggie dishes. I do miss the Dekalb Farmer’s Market a lot. That place is one of the best places for fresh produce and the unusual. You can cook just about any food type in the world with stuff from that place. They have all kinds of weird vegetables, fruits and spices that are used all over the world. If you live in Atlanta and haven’t been there, you owe yourself a trip. It will change how you view buying produce. They also have a very good wine selection at good prices. I do wish they had something like that up here.

Caroline is sorting out how to use a hand puppet. She put it on her own hand for the first time yesterday. She then proceeded to move the dog’s head up and down by moving her fingers. She then kissed it and laughed. I’m so proud for her. Makes me want to make her some more hand puppets to play with. We have to get our next generation of puppeteers from somewhere.
