RTBTCKI The Field Day Looms Edition

This is Spirit Week at Caroline’s school. They had inside out clothes day today. They are having wacky hair day today. There are themes for Wednesday and Thursday as well (dress as your favorite character/sports hero and Pajama Day which Caroline is so looking forward to). This culminates in Field Day on Friday. Puppets are done. Script is done. I have a few props and a backdrop to manufacture and we’re all good to go. We will be performing 6 times in the course of the day.

So today I am taking a bit of a pause and taking care of some things around the house that need to be done. Our larder is severely understocked at the moment. We are out of fresh fruit and veggies and a lot of the staples are going rapidly. I had to be really creative with dinner last night but it all worked out. Laundry got out of control too so that’s the other thing that I want to attend to.

Mets won three but I have very mixed feeling because the Baltimore Orioles were my very first baseball team. The US got a goal that really didn’t seem fair and the ball is getting a lot of the blame for the odd scoring games going on in the World Cup. Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup which was the best ending to that series as a whole. Celtics are 3-2 on the Lakers but don’t count them out. There is something weird going on with college football but it all seems to be about money and TV contracts so I really don’t care.

The iPad has been given a work out by all. Peter has been playing Dragon’s Lair for Caroline who is getting pretty good in her own right. I have been using it for web browsing and e-mail a lot. It is a very convenient device to have. Road testing to follow this summer.

Ariel is still looking for a job. She has applied on-line and in person for a lot of them. She found a very part time job babysitting for a family but it is very part time. Part of the problem is that a lot of places aren’t hiring for the summer but for the year and she goes back to school at the end of August. She is frustrated and with good reason.

Caroline is getting ready for summer to start. She knows that she has another week and a half of school and then summer vacation begins. We have her signed up for a soccer camp figuring that she will be able to sort out if this is a sport she wants to participate more in. I don’t want to sign her up for a season and she doesn’t like playing the sport. Plus she gets to swim every day as well.

I am grateful for things that allow my family to feel normal.
