puppetmaker: (Caroline Ninja or Pirate)

Radio Silence?

There are times when I write in the web log that I think of the lyrics from 1776 sung by John Adams

Is anybody out there?
Does anybody care?
Does anybody see what I see?

I know that my traffic is not that of my husband's web log. I also know that a lot of readers have gone to the shorter forms of Facebook and Twitter for their social reading. Others have just stopped visiting for whatever reason. And I do ponder why people stop reading or commenting. Am I writing material that is just that banal? I do tend to stay away from certain topics here on purpose.

Then I stop and remember why I started writing this web log. It started for my family to have a day to day look at my life with Caroline and the rest of my family since there were so many things happening so fast in her little life. I didn't want to forget to tell them. Then I started to make a record for Caroline to read down the road if she wants to. She can read about the things she did before she could really remember doing them and recall things that she has vague memories of. Friends found out about it and they started reading which makes getting together with them much easier because we don't have to spend a lot of time catching up on things because they have been reading my web log.

I have made new friends through this web log. I have met people in real life that I would not have if I hadn't had a web log. I have participated in groups and activities that I would not have if it hadn't been for this web log.

So it serves several purposes for me. And I plan on continuing to write in it. If there is a pause, just put it down to life that got a little hectic and I'll be back once things settle down. We had some news that we are still processing so good thoughts for a good outcome would be nice to have.

I do have my regulars who do comment and I so appreciate that.

I am grateful that I have been writing here as long as I have.

I know what you mean. Sometimes I wonder if the only reason I do LJ Idol is because then I know people will be reading what I put out there.

I love keeping up with you this way. We don't see each other (or talk!) nearly often enough.

May all your outcomes be good.

I'm a bit busy with law school, but I always read. You are such a strong and amazing person, and I love hearing about your life, because it's so wonderful to see what hard work and a great personality can achieve.

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!! Now I'm going to have that song stuck in my head for the next two days, or I have to dig out the video and watch it again, and get every other song stuck in my head too and mixed up with Pippin....

Hon, I know just how you feel. I've felt that way for YEARS with Daven's Journal and my various social media outlets. But I still read you. And I will keep reading you too.

It's not you, it's me, as they say.

I haven't been able to more than scattershot commenting on ANYone's journal in weeks. Part of it is trying to get back into the routine of working outside of the house again and balancing that with all that must still be done for my share of the Mike's Comics load. Not to mention all I'm doing for separating out the distribution arm under my own name, with the BLAKE'S 7 audios as the spearhead and the future to include the distribution of independent presses' book and graphic novel titles. And all of this while being what my friend Dalila calls a "hearth angel".

I read you every day, Kath, and I'm honored by how much you share of yourself with your readers.

Thank you for writing as much as you do. I enjoy reading about your home life and your interests. I don't post too often, and lately it's been hard keeping up with online things due to a new job and a move, but I wanted to let you know that.

I tried to meet you a couple of times at DragonCon, but kept missing you... hopefully next year.

I read, I just don't comment a lot unless I feel I have something really relevant or interesting to add. Part of this is because I have very little free time (I don't post very often, either).

But I am here and I do read.

I'm mostly on FB. I've been keeping tabs on ya, even if I'm quiet. It's been neat getting to know your daily life again. {{{hug}}}

I'm not angry that I am not getting commentary. Believe me I do understand life before the web.

I think you are right about the number of people commenting being down.

Right back at'cha on that. I keep up through you and your lovely wife's blogs and facebooks.

Awwww. Thanks so much. This made me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside.

[identity profile] puppetmaker40.livejournal.com 2009-11-19 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but it isn't like you have anything else going on that might eat up your time. Right? *grin*

[identity profile] puppetmaker40.livejournal.com 2009-11-19 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
You are my friend and I love you for that.

[identity profile] puppetmaker40.livejournal.com 2009-11-19 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. I appreciate the words. I know that a lot of people pass through here and I appreciate every eyeball that glances my direction

[identity profile] puppetmaker40.livejournal.com 2009-11-19 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I honestly don't know if she will love it or be horrified by it. Of course we always have Peter's intros in various comics to shock her with later including one entry about the potty song when she was potty training. *grin*

I do Idol to shake up my writing a bit so it doesn't get stale but it is nice to know that people are reading it. Thanks for commenting.

[identity profile] puppetmaker40.livejournal.com 2009-11-19 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I know. You are the friend I have known the longest and that we do keep up with each other is a miracle considering how hard it was to get a letter out of me in college.

[identity profile] puppetmaker40.livejournal.com 2009-11-19 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww thanks. You make me blush.

You know that I do strongly believe you too. You are a super person with lots to give the world.

That's the main reason I do it as well. But it does help that pieces written for Idol are a lot more likely to get responses. It's hard to keep going when you feel like it's all going into a void.

I should be better about commenting on friend's posts.

[identity profile] puppetmaker40.livejournal.com 2009-11-19 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Glad I could help. Hey it's a grand musical with lots of earworms through out. I had "But Mr. Adams" running through mine.

[identity profile] puppetmaker40.livejournal.com 2009-11-19 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Me too. I can be horrible about commenting then I will start commenting like there is no tomorrow. I need to strike a balance between the two.

[identity profile] puppetmaker40.livejournal.com 2009-11-19 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww. Thanks I appreciate that.

Now a delicate question since my memory is swisscheese. DidI ever get you in touch with Hildy of Time & Space magazine?

[identity profile] puppetmaker40.livejournal.com 2009-11-19 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
We should be there. Nothing is certain but I think we'll be better about filling out our paperwork this year.

***Hugs*** right back at'cha
