Meme snurched from a couple of people

On-line journals are little filters that we each see every one else's lives through, the parts others choose to share with us. That said, we all think we are close, but really we seldom know *a lot* about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.

Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

Where actually in the US do you live in? I'm not asking for the city or street address, but I get the impression that you live in the North East.

Just curious- did you and DH meet at a con?

[identity profile] puppetmaker40.livejournal.com 2006-12-06 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep. First time we met was at an Atlanta Fantasy Fair after it moved to the airport hotel. He bought one of my klingon puppets.

That's a hard one because I have been playing with puppets since I was about 2 years old. I started building them when I was a teen because I wanted to know how they went together. I really got into it after I got out of grad school.

If it's not too expansive a question, what got you into book editing? How long was that your 9-to-5 job, and how much do you get to freelance now?

What is your favorite song (at this moment, when you were a child, pick an era)?

[identity profile] puppetmaker40.livejournal.com 2006-12-07 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
At this moment I would say Peter Gabriel "the Barry Williams Show" which is more twisted than a Wierd Al song. When I was a kid I loved the Beatles "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" with Sargent Pepper a close second, Pick an era.....ummm Billy Holiday's "God Bless the Child".

A fluke got me into editorial. A friend of Peter's was bemoaning the fact that they couldn't find any good candidates for an editorial assistant position and Peter suggested me. I interview there and got the job. I was there for 4 years. It depends. Some years are better than others. Right now I would say that I am in a bit of a slump but I haven't really been pushing for work in that area recently either.

Thank you. I remember you mentioning you worked on one of the Star Wars lines (New Jedi Order, right?); what else did you work on?

Yikes! A lot of stuff. I was incharge of our teen line. I was very proud of Nancy McKenzie who's novels I worked very hard on. I did whole bunch of things there. The most surreal had to be working with Alan Dean Foster since I was such a bit fan of his work as a teen.
