Agreed. The Internet is a social activity - would they run a study on if we're addicted to living in a community, having friends, and talking to other people? (Actually, they probably have. And issued a helpful pamphlet: YOUR TEENAGER AND YOUR PHONE: LIFELINE OR DEATHLINE? or CIVICS NERDS: DESPERATE CRY FOR HELP?)
Let's see, I met my husband online, my family and my coworkers read my blog, I've met more than half of my closest offline social group thanks to LJ, and some of my closest friends are touring worldwide at any given moment, so the Internet is the only way we can inexpensively and quickly keep in touch. Yep, this is one real destructive system we got here. :-)
