Bits and Pieces

Well I think this is the longest I have gone between entries ever.

Mac Update
"It’s Dead Jim."
A box is now on its way to ship my little iBook back to Apple repair. A very nice gentleman named Monty helped me get this process started and he did some digging to find out that the extended warrantee covers it since this is a problem with the model of iBook. He also told me that I was correct that Apple isn’t sending this part out for others to repair the problem because they are still keeping track of it. With any luck I will have it back by the end of the week.

Baseball
Peter and I joined Bob & Deb Greenburger for the 2nd game of the Mets / Dodgers series. We saw Glavine pitch an impressive game. A lot of work for the infield on both sides with not a lot of balls going into the outfield. A couple of Mets hits almost made it out but the wind was blowing in from center field making things difficult. Still they won.

On Saturday after we saw the end of Yankees/Tigers game we thought about calling Keith to get his reaction but then decided we should leave Keith to morn in peace. I expect both he and Terry had some choice words for a couple of the players. (Any bets as to how much longer A-Rod will be in pinstripes?)

Then on Saturday night we watched the Mets finish up their playoff game. That was sweet. I caught the 8th and 9th innings having gone to talk to people on the party floor at AlbaCon.

AlbaCon
Our hosts went out of their way to make sure we all had a good time and I can say honestly that we did.

Caroline loved the AlbaKidsCon that allowed her to play with other kids around her age for 3 hours at a time. She did a few of the crafts and played with a bunch of ponies that they had. The nice lady who was running it allowed her to keep one of the ponies which was carefully introduced by her to all her other ponies when she came home. She made me a necklace that I wore around the convention after she put it around my neck. I am going to treasure that for a long time. Caroline never wanted to leave when time was up and was glad to go back. The last day she wasn’t feeling well and wanted to be with me. Good thing too because by the end of the day she had lost her voice.

Ariel learned to play Dungeons and Dragons and spent a majority of her free time in the gaming room taking her elf through an adventure. She managed to walk out of the dungeon intact and the DM gave her props for trying ideas to help the party even though it was her first time and first character. She has a bunch of friends who play at lunch and will probably join that game.

Peter was the Guest of Honor and had a lot of fun with meeting everyone and just hanging out with people. This was a relaxacon in so many ways. He read an abbreviated version of a new Apropos Novella that is coming out next year which people enjoyed a lot. He did a number of other panels and a couple of signings as well but he had time to see the Art Show and the Dealers room without having to carefully plan it. He also spent time with me in the Art Show.

I had a blast and met a bunch of new people and caught up with some on-line acquaintances for the first time and some people I have know for a while in fandom. I put the Doctors in the Art Show. 4 was not done so I spent a bunch of time sitting in the Art Show doing the hand stitching on him which allowed people to come ask me questions about the puppets. Didn’t sell any but had a lot of interest. I think I spent a majority of my time there. On Saturday night they have a wing designated for parties which I went to. I had a lot of fun talking to all kinds of people about all kinds of things. Then in the AlbaCon World Con bid party I found the good scotch and ended up in a long discussion of puppetry with the artist guest of honor with other people coming into and out of the conversation. I got back to the room in time to see the Mets win. We bought some art including a group of drawings that were done based on a passage from one of Peter’s novels which were being auctioned for charity. We are now figuring out where we are going to put them and how.

Now I need to sort through my e-mail a bit and then get on with the day. Caroline is under the weather so she needs a lot of Mommy time today.

I am grateful for all the good things in my life.

I wish we could have made it out there to Albacon. I owe you an e-mail.

Glad to hear that you all had such a good time.

I've got no choice words for anyone, honestly. (Well, except of course for that evil being that goes by the name Pedro Martinez.)

I pretty much stopped paying attention to the baseball season once the Red Sox were eliminated. That and my boy Nick Johnson are about the only things in baseball I care about anymore. :)

Go Mets! Oh, and it sounds like you had a very enjoyable weekend.
