The Beginnings of the Trek to DragonCon 2016
But first a word about the passing of Gene Wilder. The first film he registered on my radar was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factor based on one of my favorite books Charlie and the Chocolate Factor. I loved how he played the character and the zany energy he brought to the role. If the good Lord had intended us to walk, he wouldn't have invented roller skates. and Strike that and reverse it after he said something totally off the wall that almost made sense.
I enjoyed his performances in many films after that. Good or bad film, I knew I had one solid performance to watch no matter what else the movie held.
His family released a statement saying that he passed due to complications from Alzheimer’s, which he had been dealing with for some time. He didn’t want the public to know about it because of Willy Wonka and the magic that character still held for children. He didn’t want that character associated in their minds to what was happening to him.
Class act all the way. Never met him but know people who worked with him on various projects. They say that he was an actor’s actor. One could learn a lot by just watching him work. He did good deeds for a lot of people but kept quiet about what he had done. He was comfortable being Gene Wilder. Take that as you may.
Back to what I am up to. Finished what I could on the puppets.
Nebula turned out better than I had hoped.

There will be more photos later this week of all the puppets.
We got up at 4 AM and started driving to see Ariel, Anthony and AJ and pick-up Caroline who has been with them for almost a month now. Took us almost 12 hours to get down here to North Carolina but we are here.

AJ and Me. He is four months old now.
Tomorrow we head down to Atlanta so I can see my folks and, with any luck, my friends Jeff & Angelo.
Wednesday is the beginnings of the convention with Thursday being the day that everything cranks up to eleven.
I am grateful for the body of Gene Wilder’s work.
