Good-bye 2013. Don't let the door hit you on the way out
(Crafty Tuesday is on holiday until next week)
I am going to be so glad to see this year gone. I don’t think I have been happy about the ending of a year since 1997 and in fact I think I am happier this time around that I am looking at the end.
There were positives. Peter is alive and able to do all the activities he could do before the stroke. Ariel graduated from college. Gwen got married. Shana’s movie theater is expanding to two screens. Caroline achieved so much. I think she is proudest of her drawing for the Scary Godmother project. I’m still standing, which all things considered I take as a win.
I was rereading part of my father’s Pogo collection and I ran across one of Churchy’s rants about Friday the 13th and I thought, “This is what 2013 has been. One very long Friday the 13th.”
So with some good luck, 2014 should be an improvement over 2013.
I am working out some resolutions for the next year. I don’t know if I am going to make them public and keep me honest. I find that when I put things out here, I tend to keep to them a little more than if I just keep them to myself.
I am going to try to be more creative. Or rather express this creativity by creating rather than thinking about creating. I am already pretty creative but I have very little to show for last years portfolio. Also we are going on two years of not making any dolls which is not how it should be.
I am also going to carve out some me time. I haven’t had much and it is time to think about me for a little bit.
I plan to keep up the exercise regime, which gets difficult as we have a lot of people heading for the gym for the next month or so. I want to be in better shape this next year than I am now. I can say that I am in better shape now than I was at the end of last year. So I want to keep that going.
I also want to continue my great straightening of the house. I got some of it done out of necessity since I didn’t want Peter tripping over things. Now I am back to the projects like organizing the DVD collection and the room of requirement.
I am grateful that we made it through this year a bit bloody but unbowed.
