Well that was a lot of wake up to...

When I went to sleep last night all I thought I would awake to some more information about the NASA project. I am waiting for the video to play. I wish we had the NASA channel on my cable system because we ended up watching a lot of it while we were in Seattle.

But no, what do I hear when I turn on NPR this morning? Barak Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize and every reporter and news pundit were falling all over themselves as to why. I told Peter that he won just for not being Bush which Peter found very funny. But I think he was nominated and won for just saying two things the first that American would be listening to other nations and what they think but, and I think the more important point, second that other nations should not expect America to come solve their problems. Opening the lines of communication brings us to a more peaceful planet if you ask me.

As to the NASA project, I have read a number of people’s rants and raves about how this was defiling the moon and how could we do such a thing? Well scientific interest is how and the quest for knowledge which is something that the human animal has always been interested in. But in all this I wish people would remember that meteors hit the moon all the time and many with greater impact that what NASA did. I think my favorite line about all this was from my friend Jen who said, “So, is the personal products industry going to sue NASA when monthly cycles everywhere are thrown off?”

Baseball is being played and I have watched bits and pieces of the various games. Yankees are tap dancing on the Twins so I think that will be a short series. The Angels won but don’t count Boston out yet. Rockies came back to even things up against the Phillies. Dodgers and Cardinals probably had the most exciting game out of the post season so far. So I am paying attention but just not caring that much.

This weekend Ariel is coming home for a visit. It will be nice to have her back here. We leave for Melborne Australia on Tuesday and come back from Aukland New Zealand two weeks later. Cat sitter is in place just need to make sure we have food and litter ready to go. DVR is set up too. I need to make sure I have all the things we need for travel so I can pack which means more laundry.

So that’s my weekend. Maybe I’ll have some time for some football but I doubt it.

I am grateful for rediscovering old TV series that I like.
