A few thoughts at the end of the day
I got the truck back yesterday. The alternator apparently seized up and threw a bracket that clipped a fan belt and so there was a bit that needed to be done to get the truck up and running. Not as bad as I thought it was going to be but still a chunk of change. It now sounds like it did before the alternator decided to take a permanent vacation.
Peter and I had been talk a while about getting some of our cheaper shelving replaced with something a little heftier. We did that this week. Peter put together the shelves and I transferred the books to the new shelves. It looks very nice now and I found a bunch of stuff we forgot that we had including signed books. We even have a children's book by John Lithgow signed to Caroline before she was born. It says "To Baby David". I also found my copy of The tragic comedy of Mr. Punch which has a great drawing by Dave in the front of it along with Neil's signature.
I bet my parents $5.00 that it is not going to snow around Caroline's birthday. They think it will. It would be typical if it did snow on her birthday party. Speaking of which, she is getting excited at the idea of the party. She went with Peter to pick out her cake today. Tomorrow she and I are going to go get the party decorations. I also want to go to the dollar store for some party favors. She is really excited that her cousins Sara and Emma are coming up a day early to spend time with her as well as her Grandma Dalia and Papa Gunter. This is the first year she has been excited about the party before the party. I am keeping it simple. It will be her, Sara, Emma and Caroline's friend Katie. 4 little girls for the 4th birthday party.
She is also aware that Christmas is around the corner and she has been poring over catalogues looking at different toys. We have informed her that she can show us anything she wants but that does not mean that she will be getting it.
Peter is currently in the city doing a signing. He should be heading home shortly.
I am grateful for getting the book project done and getting the dining room in shape.
