Mother's Day 2006
This morning in honor of Mother's Day Peter let me sleep in and took care of Caroline. She gave us both a gift and slept until 7:50 AM rather than the 5:30 she had been doing all week. I had time to make myself a nice breakfast and read the paper without interruption. Caroline and I went to get her dressed and ready to go out bowling with Daddy this morning so I could have the morning to do whatever I wanted to do. It is a very nice present which I am enjoying a lot. Later they are going to take me out to lunch and Peter is going to cook dinner for me.
Woodrow Wilson signed the bill that designated the second Sunday in the Month of May as Mother's Day back in 1914. It is one of the busiest days for restaurants and the telecommunications field as sons and daughters honor their mothers. Florists rate it up there for flowers sold too.
I told my mother Happy Mother's Day last night via E-Mail since she and my father are off on one of their expeditions for the next couple of weeks. I think in retirement they are going to see the whole world. They deserve it. They both worked very hard for many years so that their children could have a good life. I had a great childhood and my parents have been there for me in all kinds of situations.
Ten Reasons I love being Caroline's Mommy (In no particular Order)
1. The full body hugs and loving kisses and the laughter
2. Being the center of someone's universe even if it is only for a short time
3. Watching the world from her point of view
4. Being able to take care of boo-boos with a single kiss
5. Watching her grow up and being there for all the firsts in her life
6. Learning new things with her
7. Playing silly games that we make up the rules to which no one else understands but that's OK because we do
8. Doing art together. She'll sit there and play with her clay or draw while I work on my project. Just quietly creating next to each other.
9. Watching her manipulate a puppet or turn something into a puppet.
10. Hearing her make up stories as she plays with her toys
I am so grateful that I am Caroline's Mommy.
