One of Those Discussions

I was having a discussion on one of the chat rooms I visit on occasion and we came to the conclusion that everyone needs a wife. Everyone needs someone in his or her corner. I'm taking more here about wife in the abstract rather than the strict definition of wife. We were using the good TV wives as examples of what would be nice. In a thesaurus the following came up when wife was put in better half, consort, espoused, helpmate, helpmeet, mate, partner, significant other, soul mate, spouse, after I pulled the ones that were gender specific. It all started when one of the male members of the group was talking about washing and re-hanging his curtains because they were dirty. To which someone quipped you are going to make your fiancée a good wife. He's getting married later this year. Then the conversation went to how nice it would be to have someone to love you and take care of you not as a mother but more as an equal in all things.

Another house went up for sale on our block. Not totally unexpected since the neighborhood knew that they were building a larger house further down the island. But the sign is up now. I'm hoping we get another young family with children. It's a good starter house for a family. I don't think the neighbors around them are going to miss the honking big boat that lived in the back yard during the winter. But they kept up their lawn and were not above saying hi when they saw you.
