Single Parent for a Weekend

I have the utmost respect for single parents. I don’t know how I would do without Peter to help me with Caroline. I could probably muddle through but it is tough when you are the only adult in the house. My schedule is built around Ariel and Caroline’s whimsical schedules. Ariel is off with her show choir today at Six Flags. She won’t be home until late. I am hoping it doesn’t rain on them. She wants to ride the roller coasters. Here as Casa David, it is just Caroline and me. Peter is off at Motor City Con signing lots of autographs and telling baby barf stories according to some of the people who have posted on his blog.

I do have a list of things I would like to get done today. Two items must be DONE today. The rest are a bit more flexible in terms of my time table. I know about when Caroline will be napping today based on when she woke up so I am planning when it would be a good time to make a trip with her. I want to plan it so on the way home she falls asleep which gives me anywhere from 1 to 3 hours of time to get other stuff done. If it doesn’t rain, I want to take her outside and let her run around this afternoon. She loves being outside. She also loves coming in the front door, running through the house, and going out the back door. This morning Millie the Cat let her “pet” him for quite a while. I had to keep telling her to be nice to the cat. (translation: Don’t pound or kick Kitty). The cats are tolerating her very well. They know if she becomes too much, they can run into the dining room and she is not allowed in there. Currently the 3 indoor cats are stretched out on the top of the sofa in the sunshine napping and Caroline is playing in her play pen. She’ll play in her pen with very little protest in the morning but after her nap she wants to be free range baby. So I will play with her and she will give me some of her full body hugs with giggles and life will be good.
