Green is my yard and Green is my Car

First Happy Cinco De Mayo to all who celebrate that holiday. I am a little torqued that the Liquor companies had done with this holiday what they did to St. Patrick's Day which is another rant entirely. Does anyone remember who they were fighting? If you said the Spanish then no sopa for you. It was the French. It is not Independence Day( September 15, 1810) since they were free until the French came in after the Mexican-American War, but it was the last time a foreign power ran the country (kinda sort of). On May 5, 1862, a small Mexican Army fought and won the Battle of Puebla against a much larger and better equipped force of the French Army with Mexicans who were working for the French. And that is what is being celebrated.

Even with all the rain we are having, the pollen is swirling around in puddles and sticking to everything. Green is my lawn, my car, my house, and my cats (well not my cats but that is only because they are indoor cats).

Some of you may remember the saga of the front tooth. Caroline head butted me and there was a small crack in the tooth that became infected and then into the jaw. I have to have dental surgery twice to get rid of the infection. Things seem to be fine and all was going along swimmingly until a week ago. And then there was a pain in my mouth and it was along the line of where the stitched were. The tooth doesn't feel bad. It seems to be in my jaw. So my Dentist put me on a Z-Pac since I am highly allergic to penicillin. Unfortunately I am in the 2-4% that suffer from side-effects from taking Z-Pac which, of course, makes life interesting. But I am hoping that this will kill the bacteria and I can return to health.

A low-grade infection might explain why I have been feeling "off" recently. Not quite my perky self although I think perky is not how my friends and loved ones would describe me. I could use a little more energy in my life. I did get to the gym yesterday and was able to push myself a bit. I had forgotten, until this year, how much I loved lifting free weights. I like the feel of the bar and the feel of my muscle moving. I missed the pump. The struggle to get out that last rep before my muscle tells me that it can't take anymore. I can't do squats anymore due to knee injuries so I am trying to figure out what I can do to replace that. I also have to find exercises I can do without impacting my back or bad hip.

So that is the state of Kathleen right now.

I am grateful that I can still pump iron.
