What I was up to this weekend

I have known Jeff and Angelo aka J & A for almost 30 years now. Even though we don't talk as often as we probably should, ours is a comfortable friendship that picks up from where we left off. They are some of my closest friends in this world.

This past weekend I went down to Atlanta to attending their commitment ceremony, which was beautiful and very much them.

Just to give you some context and contrast. My friend Susan found this picture of the three of us from some convention in the 1980s. And yes I did have a mullet at the time but it was the 80s.

It was a lovely ceremony and both men wrote something to tell the other and the witnesses about their life and love which, of course, brought us all to tears.

It was also nice to catch up with some friends outside of conventions.

Angelo has been quite open about his fight against cancer so I am not talking out of school here. That is why he is in the wheelchair. That is partially why this ceremony was important and had to be done now.

But we didn’t think about that. We thought about the friendship and love we feel for Jeff and Angelo. We enjoyed the company of the people they invited to share this moment in their loves. We had good food and good drink and a number of people got their refrigerators back. We toasted and ate cupcakes.

Later a number of us went to a bar that they had/have both worked at one time or another and spent the night telling stories and talking about everything under the sun.

It was a good day with good memories.

I am grateful that I was able to spend time with Jeff and Angelo.
